“Gods of the Solar Throne” is a concept album by the Songs of the Cosmos project, which addresses the Sun as an ancient ruler and the planets of the Solar System as deities orbiting its throne. The recording presents a mythical and musical map of our cosmic home, where each body has its own character, mood and story.
Musically, the album draws on classic rock of the 70s - dense organs, distinctive guitar riffs and long, emotional solos are intertwined with atmospheric synthesizers that evoke the emptiness of space and the majesty of celestial mechanics. The production is modern, but respects the analog spirit of the era from which the inspiration comes.
Individual compositions embody the planets as archetypes: the burning anger of Mercury, the sensual and deceptive beauty of Venus, the elemental power of the Earth, the cold loneliness of distant giants and the dark edges of the system, where the light of the Sun fades. The central role is played by the Sun – the source of both life and destruction, the silent god around whom everything inevitably revolves.
“Gods of the Solar Throne” is not just an album about astronomy, but about order, gravity and relationships – a musical allegory of the forces that hold the worlds together. It is a space opera without verbal explanations, a challenge to the listener to become a wanderer between the planets and listen to the voices of the gods hidden in the orbits and resonances of the universe.
